‘Date rape’ probe on Lancs victims
A CONTROVERSIAL study which claims "date rape" drug incidents are not as widespread as first thought was carried out on Lancashire victims, it has emerged. Operation Matise was launched two years ago to look into claims that rapists and sex attackers were drugging their victims before assaulting them, using tranquilliser drugs like Rohypnol and GHB. But the study, carried out in seven police force areas including Lancashire, has now revealed that many victims who thought they had been assaulted in date rape incidents could not recall what had happened because their memory had "been blurred by too much alcohol." .
