Military Judge Bars Date-Rape Drug Test
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - A military judge hearing accusations of sexual assault on a female Naval Academy midshipman barred evidence that she was given a date-rape drug around the time of the alleged attack. Lt. Col. Paul McConnell, the Marine Corps judge for the special court-martial, said Wednesday that although the toxicology test could prove that the drug GHB was in the woman's system during a six-week period before the alleged attack, the drug could not be linked to defendant Kenny Ray Morrison. Morrison, a senior midshipman from Kingwood, Texas, has pleaded not guilty to charges of indecent assault, indecent acts and conduct unbecoming an officer in the February incident. He would face no jail time if convicted in the special court-martial, a midlevel form of military trial often used for misdemeanors.
