Rape suspect nabbed

Following an intense four-month search, investigators have a suspect in custody for the Falconridge rapes, police sources say. A young Calgary man was picked up outside Alberta and arrested, sources say, and was taken to police headquarters yesterday afternoon for questioning. No details have been released on whether charges have been laid. Falconridge residents were gripped with fear after learning a serial rapist responsible for at least two sexual assaults in the area was on the loose. An investigation led by sex crimes Det. Ren Lafreniere had officers canvassing Falconridge neighbourhoods and plastering the area with composite sketches of the baby-faced suspect. After the image was released, investigators say they were flooded with tips by people who claim to have seen the suspect.
