Judge schedules trial for accused rapist

A judge ordered trial Monday for a Douglas County man charged with raping a woman while he was out of jail on bond on a previous rape case involving a different woman. The 48-year-old man is now facing trial for two alleged rapes at his home in the 1000 section of East 1326 Road: one on Dec. 18, 2005, and another on April 8. The alleged victim in the second case, a longtime friend of the defendant, testified that he twisted her arm and forced her to have sex. Defense attorney Greg Robinson asked why the woman did not go directly to the hospital or police after leaving the man's home. He also said that a surveillance videotape taken outside the home showed the woman walking away slowly, not running, as she left the home. Judge Robert Fairchild scheduled trial for Jan.
