Serial Killer, Rapist Terrorizes Phoenix
PHOENIX -- Some Phoenix residents said they're living in fear as police try to track down the suspects responsible for nine murders, seven rapes and more than 30 serial shootings since May 2005. Gripped with intense fear, many residents are adjusting their routines to keep safe. Mothers said they don't go out at night with their children, women are more aware of protecting themselves, local business managers are upping their nighttime security. Others said they're considering moving away. Neighborhood groups are also on alert, warning residents to keep in contact with each other and be especially aware of their surroundings. The chairman of the Loma Linda Neighborhood Association said it's "everybody's worst nightmare." Thirteen random shootings during the past two months are probably connected to an earlier set of assaults, slayings and animal shootings in Phoenix.
