Convicted rapist evicted from Marin County apartment
ROSS, Calif. A man who pleaded guilty to rape nearly 20 years ago has been evicted from his Marin County apartment. In April, Bruce Lloyd Gregg and his girlfriend moved from San Anselmo to Ross. On May 23rd, city officials sent out a mass e-mail alerting residents to his presence. That same day, Gregg received a "notice to terminate tenancy" from the property owner. He had until yesterday to move out. The 46-year-old Gregg pleaded guilty to rape in 1988 and was sentenced to eight years in prison. He said he followed his lawyer's advice and took a plea deal because it meant a weapons charge would be dropped. He was granted parole in 1995, but then received another prison term for a domestic dispute. He was granted parole again in 2002. Ross defends its notification e-mail, citing public safety concerns.
