Accuser in Coast Guard Academy rape case says she passed out

(New London-AP, June 21, 2006 6:16 AM) _ Today is another day of testimony in the court martial of Coast Guard Academy cadet Webster Smith in the alleged rape of another cadet. The woman, now a Coast Guard officer, has testified that she remembers little of the night she claims she was raped. The woman says she drank about two bottles of wine and blacked out during a house party last summer in Annapolis, Maryland. Prosecutors say, in that condition, the woman could not have consented to sex with Smith. The night after the alleged attack, the woman and Smith spent the night together after attending a concert. Smith's lawyers claim he is the victim of a conspiracy between his former girl friend and three other female cadets.
