Duke player wants speedy rape trial
The defense for one of three Duke University lacrosse players charged with raping an exotic dancer at an off-campus team party asked a judge Thursday for access to a cell phone the woman carried that night. In addition, the defense for sophomore Reade Seligmann, 20, of Essex Fells, New Jersey, said he wants a speedy trial so he can return to school. "We want a trial as fast as we can," said Seligmann's attorney, Kirk Osborn. "This young kid wants to go to school in the fall." He argued that Seligmann has established "what we think is a pretty clear alibi." (Watch what else the defense asked for -- 2:45) University officials suspended Seligmann and another sophomore lacrosse player, Collin Finnerty, 19, of Garden City, New York, until the charges against them are resolved.
